The encouragement of the late maestro Krikor Chetinyan, whom Severin first met at a masterclass in Plovdiv in 2015, as well as being chorus master for a concert performance of Monteverdi’s Orfeo, led by conductor Yossif Guerdjikoff in Kurdzhali in 2017 inspired Severin to found the ensemble and dedicate himself to early music.

As Singer

Severin Vasilev has rich and varied choral singing experience and has been part of many choirs and ensembles, both professional and amateur.

Currently, he is studying solo singing with the idea to specialise in early music performance. In addition to leading the Cantanti DAI MONTI VERDI ensemble, Severin also sings in it.

As Organiser

Founder and manager of Architetti musicali, having organised musical events long before its establishment in October 2012.

Since 2013, Severin has been helping the organisation of the ppIANISSIMO International Festival for Contemporary Piano Music.

Although practically self-taught in the field of musical management, Severin was one of only two people selected by the rector of the National Academy of Music in Sofia to represent Bulgaria at an international training course in musical management of Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia in Struga, Macedonia in October 2012.

Severin manages the semi-professional Cantanti DAI MONTI VERDI ensemble, as well as his own activities as a musician.

Sundries

Or, in other words, life outside of music.

Severin is a polyglot with languages being both a profession (in doing ad hoc translations) and a passion. He is fluent in his native Bulgarian and Russian, as well as English, Swedish and Norwegian (thanks to a Bachelor’s degree in Scandinavian Studies), and capable in German and French. He has studied many other languages at a rudimentary level, including Japanese.

Currently, Severin is employed in the financial department of a large multi-national company. He is certified with both a yellow and a green belt in the Lean Six Sigma methodology.

Outside of the office and the rehearsal hall, Severin is also an avid sport climber and fantasy reader.
